Medicyte's human primary microvascular endothelial cells (mvEC) are isolated from dermis of juvenile foreskin and adult skin (different locations). By applying its proprietary and novel upcyte® technology, Medicyte is able to extend the lifespan of human primary mvECs. Those human upcyte® mvECs are able to proliferate while retaining their primary cell characteristics without being immortalized.
Large, virtually unlimited batches (600-800 vials) of human upcyte® mvECs from one donor can be generated such that they retain their specific endothelial characteristics.
Upcyte® mvECs are provided in 2 ml cryo-vials with a minimum of 5x105 or 1x106 viable cells. Recovery rates of approximately 70% are to be expected.

For each product a protocol for use and a certificate of analysis will be delivered. All offered upcyte® cells can be used in BSL1 laboratory or higher and are tested for CMV, HIV, Hepatitis B and C.
Nevertheless, the cells - like all products of human origin - should be handled as potentially infectious. No test procedure can completely guarantee the absence of infectious agents.
